Aid on Assignment — Professional First Aid Solutions

Refills & compliance

Refills & compliance.

Top up what you've used. Replace what's expired. Stop throwing away perfectly good equipment.

Most first aid kits get restocked the wrong way — the whole kit gets binned and replaced, even when 80% of the contents are still in date and unused. Our refill service changes that.

Tell us what you've used or what's expired, and we'll send you exactly what you need. Nothing more, nothing less. It's better for your budget, it cuts down on unnecessary waste — and it's better for the planet.

Sustainability

Better for your business. Better for the planet.

Reducing your carbon footprint doesn't have to mean big changes. Switching from full kit replacements to targeted refills is one of the simplest, most practical steps any business can take — regardless of size.

Biodegradable refill bags

Where we can, we pack your refills in biodegradable plastic bags that can go straight into your food waste or compost bin — not landfill.

No unnecessary packaging

We send only what you need. No oversized boxes, no filler packaging, no items you didn't ask for.

Reduce plastic waste

Why replace an entire kit — bag, box and all — when only the contents need refreshing? Keeping your existing container out of the bin is the greenest option of all.

Supports your ESG reporting

For businesses tracking sustainability commitments, switching to a refill model is a measurable, documentable step towards reducing single-use plastic and waste-to-landfill.

Every refill order we send uses biodegradable bags where possible. It's a small thing. But small things add up.

How it works

01

Audit your kit

Go through your existing kit and note what's been used, what's expired, and what's running low. Not sure? We can help — just get in touch.

02

Contact us

Drop us a message with your kit type and what you need. We'll confirm availability and put together your refill order.

03

We send exactly what you need

No bundles, no padding. Just the items you actually need, packed in biodegradable bags where possible and dispatched promptly.

04

British Standards & compliance

If your kit needs to meet a specific standard — for your workplace, vehicle, or sport — here's what you need to know.

BS 8599-1:2019+A1:2026

Workplace first aid kits

The current British Standard for workplace first aid kits, updated by Amendment 1 in 2026. Specifies contents for small, medium, large, and travel kits based on workforce size and risk level. The HSE references this standard in its first aid at work guidance — compliance with it demonstrates that your provision meets the legal requirement under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

BS 8599-2

Vehicle first aid kits

Covers first aid kits carried in vehicles. Specifies a compact kit suitable for road use. Required for some commercial fleet operators and recommended for all vehicles.

DIN 13164

European vehicle standard

The European standard for vehicle first aid kits. Required for vehicles registered in Germany and several other EU countries. Increasingly common in UK fleet compliance policies.

HSE Guidance

Health & Safety Executive

Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, employers must ensure adequate and appropriate first aid equipment, facilities, and personnel. The HSE does not prescribe exact kit contents — it requires a suitable risk assessment to determine what's needed. BS 8599-1:2019+A1:2026 provides the recognised benchmark for meeting that requirement in most workplace settings.

Not sure which standard applies to you? Get in touch and we'll give you a straight answer — no upselling, no jargon.

A note on expiry dates

Most first aid consumables carry a manufacturer's expiry date. This doesn't mean the item becomes dangerous after that date — it means the manufacturer can no longer guarantee sterility or performance to the original specification.

For compliance purposes, items should be replaced before their expiry date. For personal or home use, use your judgement — a bandage that expired last month is almost certainly still fit for purpose. A sterile dressing that expired three years ago is not.

We recommend checking your kit every six months and logging the inspection. If you're a business, this record may be required as part of your health and safety documentation.
